I am uploading here what I wrote in the General Studies paper 1 of 2013 UPSC mains exam. This is just from memory and may not be accurate. You are most welcome to criticize/add to/suggest alternate answers :-) I am only putting up a link here because the formatting of wordpress leaves much to desire.

(15-13)+(11-1)+(9-3+5+7)=30

All the given no’s used.

right answer only your

right answer only your

jaya chandra

It’s not a fair answer

I spent 40, I am sure I solved it …

( 9 multiply by 3) + ( 5-3 ) + 1 = 30

27 + 2 + 1 = 30

30 = 30

15-5 + 15-5 + 15-5

30

Awesome It Can Be Best of All

Ur Answer Can b the 99.9%Right

(15-13)+(11-1)+(9-3+5+7)=30.

(2)+(10)+(6+12)=30

2+10+18=30

15+15+1=30+1

7+3+11+5+(3+1).=30

1(3+5) + 7 + 15 = 30

15 15 0

or else 15+11+(3+1) =30

ans 15 14 3! =30

It is not written for using operators like -,+ or any other in the box itself so the

question is not correct. Using minus in the box itself is not fair

3.7+13.15+13.15

My solution: 15 15 empty

right answer ,

we can use numbers repeatedly ,

they didn’t say that we have to use all the boxes.

This is the answer which I best think off.

11+13+3!=30

the ans is,

(3+1) in first box 11 in second box and 15 in last box,,…as in question it is said that i can use all the things i.e., (1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15) but i can repeat only numbers,so the correct ans is this……

the ans is,(3+1) in first box 11 in second box and 15 in last box,,…as in question it is said that i can use all the things i.e., (1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15) but i can repeat only numbers,so the correct ans is this……

(1,11) + (3,13) + (5,15) =30

Difference b/w these values is 10. So,

(10) +(10)+(10) = 30

I believe this is a pretty impressive answer..

11+13+1

3!+9+15

3+13+15=30

In base9, 3 is 3

In base 9, 13 is 14

In base 9, 15 is 16

And in base 9 , 30 is 33

For me, this is the most elegant solution. Wanderful, Fernando .

ans is ‘No’…

1DAY{24 HRS}+5 HRS+1 HRS=30

13.7 + 13.3 + 3 ???

Each box repeat no 1 infront of the box. 10+10+10=30

the answer is 7(1,3) + 7,9 + 13 = 30 (Why ?)

Считаю что это самый правильный ответ

3(+5)+15

3(+5)+15=30

3! 9 15=30

where, 3!=3×2×1=6

1(da)+1(da)+1(da)=3 (da). =30

The answer is ”not possible” as it is given only odd nos ant the resultant is even. As it is state that “the sum of THREE ODD NUMBER is ODD number itself. Hence the answer is “not possible”.

You are correct

But

Any mathematical operation used in boxes because they didn’t tell how to fill the box. it will be possible

Hi,

For me the solution is

15+13+ log3 9= 15+13+2=30

Gaurav …how dare u..? Do u think u r genius. Try to fill the boxes at first if u can give the right answer. Otherwise u will get -0.33 ok….

(6+11+13=30 )

:-!

(15-13)+15+13=30

(1+1)+13+15=30

[15+1]+[11]+[3]=30

GAURAV AGARWAL PLEASE SHOW ANSWER

I’m also waiting

.

15+15 =30. There is no condition to fill all the three boxes

9+9+11!=30There is no contition to fill three box

(9+1) (13-3) (15-5) so simple

(7+3) (9)(11)=30

if u look carefully in d question its nowhere written to use NUMBERS ONLY so u can even use () brackets along with the numbers

therefore 11+(3+1)+15=30

its more a question of awareness than mathematical… hope this helps

15+13+(3-1)=30

Hey..I believe the right answer should be 15 + 9 + 6…..I have used 6 as inverted 9…

11,173 + 13,79 + 5,15 = 30,113

Because they say “Fill the boxes” and the entire exam question was in a box itself! (all given numbers used

But if you prefer just filling only the little boxes :

11.719 + 13.131 + 5,15 = 30

Chromatius, exete by nature

Chromatius, *exegete by nature (sorry)

simple 9+6+15=30 i use 9 two time in first i use it similar and second tym i use it ulta 6 and last 15 = 30

plz send answer

(11-1)+(13-3)+(15-5)==30

Its damn easy yaar

3 is to 11/5 + 9 is to 11/5 +11 is to 13/5

=26/5 + 56/5 + 68/5

=150/5

=30.

its (15)+(15)+()=30

because it is not written that we have fill all boxes

(11)+(3!)+(13)

(11)+(1x2x3)+(13)

11+6+13=30

(3^3)+(3)+(1)=30+1

In 3 raise to the power 3,no any additional symbol is used i.e., 3 raise to the power 3 naturally exists

(1+1)+(1+1)+(13+13)=30
